Thanks for all the interest... in the next few weeks specs etc will be up, also check WERA forums and Cycle World forums, the new DEC issue has two pages on them. Also we will have supllier info and at this time, some 15 Yamahs and possibly ten Suzuki race ready bikes are on the way. I dont think you can get an SV to weigh in at 240lbs, however...and the 450 route allows Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki to participate. Maybe this 450 thing is an OK compromise?
That is generally the idea.. more variety of similar hardware, plus there is no 'road' equipment to unload such as smog etc and one less cylinder to work on. All this creates an accessory vacuum for the aftermarket, which is already very strong in the area of 450s.
say again-- spec horsepower-55 or 60,spec tires-no specials,spec stock fork outers and clamps if otherwise good luck!!!!! spending as much on a dirtbike as a 600 dosent help
I wonder if offering kits for the Eurobike manufacturers with their high powered engines (think what a tweaked twin could do here) to participate might be a good idea as well. You could create this class worldwide, which would be a neat incentive to go racing.
Ok I have aquestion, maybe some one can answer it...before i begin I shoudl mention I am a Canuck, and that I am not sure if as a Canadian I can race in AMA events...also I am new to the idea of road racing...and therefore would be getting a late start...are there age classes or (suggested age classes) for this proposed 450 series...i'm 23... Am I out of luck for this league of racing?...or is it still alright for me to jump into racing through this class?
What a crock of crap! Gavin, pull your head out of your ass and let the 250cc 2-strokes into this class. If you really want a low cost spec class than allow the 250cc 2-Strokes to compete with the ass licking 450cc 4-Strokes. What are you afraid of?
The article in cycleworld is very intriguing and I would love to ride, own, and build one of these machines. Can someone like me, a weekend warrior with limited tools and workshop resources build one from used a CRF450X and other cannibalized parts to be used for track days and maybe amateur AMA racing? If that can happen then many follows will succumb to the magnetism of your “Singles Cult”. Do you plan to take over the world some day, because count me in, we can ride our 450s.
To anonymous quit being a 'non mouse' a put out your name... do something positive for road racing is what this is about, so if you don't like, don't bother. We figure starting with a little used WR for $4,000.00 and E-bay, then join the fun for what a brand new MX 450 costs, andrenelin costs nothing. CRF450x is in the garage and my check book is ready, willing and able. Can't wait to do this...!!
I hope these kits allow you to save money from spending on shop time
